The Skate Against Breast Cancer took place on January 7, 2012. The skate was sponsored and organized by Iced Pink Inc. Iced Pink Inc is a public charity formed in 2010 by breast cancer survivors Nancy Sherman and Bari Cenname, and choreographer Shannon Leigh Lenihan - all of whom wanted to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer. The purpose of Iced Pink Inc. is to save lives by making gifts, grants and contributions to organizations that provide information to increase public awareness of breast cancer, including information about early detection, prevention, causes and risk factors, treatments and cures.
On January 7, 2012 Iced Pink sponsored a skating exhibition to raise funds and awareness of breast cancer. The event at Citi Pond in Bryant Park in midtown Manhattan featured Olympians Emily Hughes, Melissa Gregory, Denis Petukhov, Kimmie Meissner and Nicole Bobek, along with Ice Theatre of New York's Eve Chalom and Jonathon Hunt. Olympians JoJo Starbuck and 2002 U.S. Olympic bronze medalist Timothy Goebel emceed the event.
